Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Basic Description and Function

There is no much difference between the functionality of the semi-automated and automated AED, except for the fact that automatic AEDs automatically apply the determined shock without the user’s input. In addition, modern versions of both AED types come with a number of extra features such as built-in ECG display and integrated manual override.
