Description  Heartsaver CPR AED Online has been updated to reflect new science from the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC. The skills learned in this course will help you recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help a person until EMS arrives.  Heartsaver CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver CPR AED Blended Learning Course and teaches information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete a hands-on session with an AHA Instructor. CE/CME credits are not offered for this course. Skills sessions must completed within 90 days of the completion of the online course. You can find your completion date printed on your completion certificate.

Who Should Take This Course? This course is perfect for students have the convenience of completing the course at their own pace at work, home, or wherever Internet access is available.  This class is designed for individuals who need a CPR/AED card for either personal reasons or for work/school purposes . This class is perfect for the layperson, the fitness instructor, the educator, the childcare professional, coaches, camp counselors, etc. This class is NOT for the healthcare provider or any medical/nursing student (please see BLS Class for Healthcare Providers).

Course Content  Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival

  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
  • Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult and child
  • *Optional module: Perform high-quality CPR for an infant
  • *Optional module: Demonstrate how to help a choking infant

Required Student Materials 15-1401 Heartsaver CPR AED Online

Course Format and Exam Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner online, followed by a hands-on session. Skills sessions must completed within 90 days of the completion of the online course. You can find your completion date printed on your completion certificate.

Course Completion Card  AHA certification cards will be processed as eCards. Students can expect to receive their cards within 48 hours following the class. The email will come from ecards@heart.org with a link to claim the eCard.Learn more >
