Description  AHA Heartsaver®  First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.  This course also teaches adult and child (1+) CPR and AED use. CE/CME credits are not offered for this course.

Who Should Take This Course?  This class is designed for individuals, with limited or no medical training,  who need a CPR card AND a First Aid card to meet a job requirement or for personal reasons. This class is perfect for the layperson, parents, babysitters, the fitness instructor, the educator, the childcare professional, coaches, camp counselors, etc.  This class is NOT for the healthcare provider or any medical/nursing student. Required Student Materials  Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Student Workbook will be provided to students  

Course Format and Exam  During the course, an AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete their First Aid, CPR and AED skills practice and testing. 

Course Completion Card Students receive the American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED eCard, valid for two years.  AHA cards will be processed as eCards, and usually received within 3-5 business days following the class.  Students can expect to receive an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org, with a link to claim their eCard.
