What is an AED Unit?
AED or Automated External Defibrillator is an electronic device that is capable of diagnosing abnormal heart arrhythmias in a non-responsive individual and delivering a shock in an attempt to correct the abnormal arrhythmia. These devices save countless people every year and are extremely important tools to help people survive a cardiac arrest. Currently in the United States over 430,000 people will suffer a cardiac arrest annually. Of these only about 10% survive this event. This is mostly due to 2 factors. Lack of willing responders early in the event, and lack of use of an AED unit within the first 3 minutes of the event. Studies show that when an AED unit is used within the first 3 minutes of the event, the victim’s survivability can as much as 80% to 85%, making it 800% increase in survivability when an AED is used. This illustrates how important these devices are in saving lives. AED Units come in many makes and models with several different features across those models. We offer a wide range of the most common unit available to meet anyone’s needs.
